It was 50 years ago today … fascinating photos of life in Flintshire in 1967
The Beatles may have brought a splash of psychedelic colour to Bangor in 1967, but these black and white photos of Flintshire in during the ‘Summer of Love’ tell a different story.
These excellent Daily Post archive images offer a fascinating insight into life in the county 50 years ago.
From the glamour of a visit by Prince Phillip to the everyday of people looking round a small fayre, they provide a 50 year window into the past.
The photos also capture the Flintshire and Denbighshire Show, which is still going strong today, and former Wrexham FC players.
Others show the streets of Northop as they once were, empty of traffic, with a striking image of the now demolished Connah’s Quay Power Station cooling towers, taken from the Dee Estuary.
