Flasher targeting teenage girls on school run in Bangor
A teenage girl walking home from school was confronted by a flasher in Bangor yesterday.
North Wales Police are looking into a second case of indecent exposure in the city in the last 10 days.
At 4pm yesterday the teenager was walking on a footpath between St Davids Close and Maes Berea when a man accosted her and flashed his genitals.
Local Chief Inspector Richie Green is overseeing the investigation.
He said: “This is the second incident in the last 10 days and whilst there are a number of similarities about the offence and offender it’s also important we keep an open mind.
“Yesterday afternoon a teenage girl was making her way home from school along a footpath in between St. David’s Close and the rear of B&M Bargains in Maes Berea, Bangor when she was accosted.
“Fortunately she had her wits about her and wisely, and very quickly left the scene and was unharmed although the incident has left her, and her family, understandably shaken.
“He is described as approximately 30 years old, 5’7″ and of average build.”
North Wales Police are already investigating a similar incident that took place in near-by Belmont Road at around 11.15am on Tuesday 9th May. Both victims are teenage girls walking to or from school and the descriptions supplied are similar.
On Tuesday May 9 a man approached a woman in the lower end of Belmont Road and exposed himself.
Earlier this week North Wales Police released an e-fit of the attacker in that incident.
Chief Inspector Green added: “I have tasked CID with managing this investigation and detectives and uniformed colleagues have already conducted a number of house to house enquiries in the area as well as examine domestic and business CCTV cameras.
“High visibility patrols have been increased around school times and officers have spoken with local schools and asked that appropriate advice and warnings are given to students by their staff.”
