Ashton Kutcher was born Christopher Ashton Kutcher on February 7, 1978, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to parents Diane Kutcher, a Procter and Gamble employee, and to Larry Kutcher, who once worked for General Mills. Kutcher is best known for his role as Michael Kelso in the hit television series That 70’s show, and his role as Jesse Montgomery in his big screen debut Dude, Where’s my Car? He is also a well known producer of reality TV shows such as Beauty and the Geek, and the most popular, Punk’d. He has also starred in other movies such as The Butterfly Effect, Just Married, and What Happens in Vegas. He is currently married to actress Demi Moore.
Ashton Kutcher was born only minutes before his fraternal twin, Michael. At the young age of 13, Michael had to undergo a heart transplant. It was also at this age that his parents decided to get a divorce. Ashton and Michael along with their older sister Tausha, lived with their mother. Their family then moved to Homestead, which is a very small farming community, after their mother got remarried. It was here that Ashton pursued his interest in acting by starring in school productions. Ashton was very much of a party boy during his high school days. He eventually went on to graduate in 1996, and studies biochemical engineering at the University of Iowa. During his college days, Kutcher was approached by a talent scout to get him into the world of male modeling, something that he knew nothing about. Kutcher entered the Fresh Faces of Iowa contest, and being a natural, won the competition in 1997. He then went on to New York to sign with a modeling agency which provided him with his biggest gigs such as ads for Calvin Klein, and Abercrombie and Fitch.
In 1998, Ashton Kutcher broke through to television, starring in the hit comedy series That 70’s Show. He starred as the adorable but incredibly dense Michael Kelso. During filming of the series, he developed very strong bonds with some of the cast members, namely Wilmer Valderrama and Danny Masterson. During filming, he landed smaller roles in films such as Coming Soon and Down to You, as well as in a more serious crime drama Reindeer Games. He had his first box office hit when he starred alongside his friend Sean William Scott in the comedy Dude, Where’s My Car in 2000. It was also during this year that Kutcher was named one of People magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful People in the World.
Kutcher went on to star in other films such as Texas Rangers and Just Married where he starred with then-girlfriend Brittany Murphy. After their short lived relationship, Kutcher started to be romantically linked to Demi Moore, which initially caused quite a stir because of their age difference of 15 years.
Aside from acting and modeling, Ashton Kutcher has also made a name for himself as a producer, coming up with such successful TV shows such as Punk’d and Beauty and the Geek in 2003. He then went on to star in more critically acclaimed films such as The Butterfly Effect, Guess Who, and A Lot Like Love. In 2005, Kutcher wed Demi Moore in a private ceremony in Beverly Hills. He has since then appeared in more films such as The Guardian, What Happens in Vegas, and Personal Effects as well as producing the television show Miss/Guided.
