Energy drinks are popular today. Some drinks claim to give you wings, and others claim that they will help you beat that 2:30 feeling. They all advertise that they will help you have more energy and better concentration. In some cases, they even advertise that you will become a much better athlete. Since everyone is drinking them they must be okay right? I wouldn’t bet on it. Some of them have supplements that you might not even be able to pronounced.
While I cant argue that you won’t get some energy from the drinks, you should be concerned about where that energy is coming from. They have high levels of sugar and caffeine in them. The problem with sugar is that you will crash eventually and you’ll need another drink. Another problem of the sugar is that you are adding empty calories to your diet, which will increase your waist size over time.
The other supplements found in energy drinks don’t really do much for energy. These supplements are Taurine, Guarana, and Ginseng. The supplements have been shown to be good for you, however, they are good for you in different manners than how they’re being marketed. Ginseng’s claim to fame is that it has been shown to make your mind sharper, it has nothing to do with giving you more energy. The only benefit to Gaurana is that it has about twice the amount of caffeine in it than a coffee bean has. Taurine has been actually shown to make you more sluggish than to give you energy, according to research.
There are a few different things that you can do to make sure that you don’t drink energy drinks but still have energy. One of the best things you can do is to drink coffee or tea with some caffeine in it. Depending on your body, coffee has been shown to give you energy for up to five hours. Coffee and tea both have antioxidants in them and antioxidants are great for combating free radicals that can lead to cancer.
An important factor in having a lot of energy is making sure that you’re getting enough sleep at night. Far too often we don’t get as much sleep as we need each day because we’re working so hard. It is recommended that we get eight hours of sleep per day. While I understand this can be a bit of a challenge for you, you should try to at least get seven hours of sleep.
Eating properly will also help you maintain energy throughout the day. If you are not eating enough then you are going to be sluggish and tired. One way to keep your energy up all day through food is to make sure that you eat 5 to 6 small meals a day. This will keep your energy levels up and constant.
