'Bad luck' pub with runaway landlady is bouncing back after £150K revamp
A problem hit pub – that has suffered from a runaway landlord, flooding and power cuts – is bouncing back after a £150,000 revamp.
The Fairy Falls in Trefriw has hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons in recent years, including a former manager disappearing while guests were staying in the pub.
But over the last 12 months, publicans Debra Pedder and Steve Parry have slowly pieced their business back together again, refurbishing the pub’s six letting chalets and upgrading the kitchen.
Now a joint investment with pub company Punch to fully refurbish the pub’s function room and bar has been completed.
Debra said: “The last two years has been a very difficult time for us but we are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
“The pub and chalets are now looking better than ever.
“Our regular customers have all been very supportive and I am delighted we have turned The Fairy Falls back in to a pub the community can feel proud of once again.”
The work has been completed in time for the start of the tourist season when Debra and Steve are hoping to capture a share of the thousands of walkers and outdoor enthusiasts who visit the area.
Punch development and training manager Alex Felix-Thomas said: “Debra and Steve have had some bad luck but it’s great to see that business is starting to pick up again.
“We are delighted to have been able to support them with the refurbishment and look forward to working with them in the future.”
