Bangor's 'Yellow Pub' developer submits new plans
Fresh plans have been submitted for Bangor’s ‘Yellow Pub’ site.
Yr Hen Glan pub was a firm favourite for students and locals for decades, and was often a watering hole for rock and pop stars after they played at Bangor University.
But it closed last year.
In December a scheme was revealed for the pub to be converted into a restaurant, with 16 student flats on the first and second floors.
Bangor’s ‘Yellow Pub’ plans submitted … and it’s been branded as ‘incredibly ugly’
But following discussions with planning officers at Gwynedd council, a reduced project has now been put forward by the developer MJF Pension Trustees.
Agent Penseiri Russell Hughes is handling the application.
In the new submission, the developer wants planning permission for the renovation of the ground floor restaurant / public house area and the conversion of the first floor into five student units.
In the planning statement, they said: “It is envisaged that the ground floor restaurant will be occupied by a high-quality outlet catering for the people of Bangor, theatre goers and people from further afield, hopefully making Bangor a place to visit and eat.”
It added: “The development comprises of five bedrooms, one living pod, consisting of an open plan living, study space, kitchen and dining room. Two bathrooms will be constructed. Storage for bikes and refuse will be available internally.
“The development is ‘car free’.”
