Colwyn Bay woman killed in Abersoch tractor tragedy was an 'amazing young lady'

A young woman who was killed in a tractor tragedy at Abersoch was an ‘amazing young lady’, said teachers at her former school in Colwyn Bay .

Chloe Farrell, who left Rydal Penrhos in 2011, died on Friday afternoon after a tractor turned over at The Warren resort.

Head of science Dave Robson, who was one of Chloe’s teachers at Rydal Penrhos with Payne House, said: “Chloe was a girl who always threw herself into everything to the fullest degree.

“She could be relied on to take part in any House activity requested of her and she would always give of her best with a smile on her face.”

After she finished her education Chloe worked for the family business Crime Prevention Services and was described as being a “huge asset” to the company”.

The 22-year-old was a keen skier, while also growing into a netball and hockey during her time at Rydal Penrhos.

Staff members and both current and former pupils at the school took to social media to express their sorrow at the news.

Head of Girls’ Games Nicky Head, said: “An amazing young lady, talented sportsperson and a pleasure to teach.

“In complete and utter shock.

“Thoughts are with her family and friends at this difficult time.”

Former pupil Harrison Holmes, said: “All of us that knew her were lucky. Taken from us far too early. One of the most shocking days of my life so far. God Bless you Chloe.

Another ex-pupil Emily Hickman, added: “Throughout my time at Rydal Penrhos, Chloe was always a happy, smiley and high spirited girl and she was a friend to everyone.”

In a statement, her family said: “She was fun, outgoing and had a great sense of humour.

“She lived life to the full and loved spending time with her many friends.”

An investigation has been launched by the police and council into the incident.

Bobby McGhee, CEO of the Haulfryn Group which owns The Warren, said: “Our thoughts and sympathies are with the family and friends at this extremely difficult time.

“The emergency services are conducting a full investigation into the accident and what caused the owner’s tractor to overturn.

“Once this is established, we will issue a further statement.”
