There are so many juice drinks out there. Ironically, you’d think that most of these were pure juice. As they show fruits on the wrappers and the bottles and mention the word juice, you’d think that meant you were enjoying a healthy drink comprised of the extracts of a fruit.

Unfortunately, this isn’t usually the case. So many drinks out there mislead you into thinking that you are in fact drinking juice, when you simply aren’t.

Of course, there will be natural elements of some juice in these drinks, but the majority of these drinks have far less than a 50% juice composition.

What’s in them, you ask? Added preservatives, sweeteners, and other things. High fructose corn syrup is a popular additive, as are things like cane juice, sucrose, and other things that sweeten drinks. Beet sugar and plain old sugar are two other things to look out for too.

The fact of the matter is that many of these drinks are loaded with sugar and other sweeteners. Many of them have just as much of that stuff in them as soda does, making them just a small step below the nutritional value of soda. The ironic thing is that you’re usually trying to be healthy when you’re having these drinks!

The moral of the story is that you should look for things that say that they’re 100% juice if you’re looking for juice. Something that says something like “juice cocktail”, “juice drink”, “juice blend”, or anything else to that effect simply isn’t 100% juice.
