Family of Gwynedd teenager left fighting for his life after crash ask friends to pray for him
A teenager has been left fighting for his life after a horrific cycling accident near his home.
Connor Jones, from Parciau, Mynytho near Pwllheli, was airlifted to hospital in Royal Stoke University Hospital after the incident yesterday afternoon in Pen Llyn .
His condition is described as “critical” and his family are at his bedside.
His uncle Paul Tyrrell, writing on Facebook, said: “Connor is fighting for his life and I need all his friends to pray for him as he is going to need all the help he can. Thank you.”
Neighbours of the 17-year-old construction and engineering student at Coleg Meirion Dwyfor said they were shocked to hear of Connor’s injuries.
One said: “We’re all shocked to hear of Connor, he’s a good lad. I really hope he pulls through.”
Emergency crews were called to the scene on the unclassified road between Mynytho and Abersoch near the Rhandir Caravan Park at about 4.50pm.
He is believed to have been riding his bike towards Abersoch when the accident happened on a steep, downhill section on a good surface.
Residents of the caravan park said the first they were aware of the incident was when the emergency services arrived shortly followed by the first of two air ambulances.
She said: “The air ambulance landed in a field and the paramedics came running to the scene. I’m told the second helicopter had a doctor on board and the young lad was treated at the scene before being flown to hospital.
“We have not heard today about his condition but we’re hoping he’ll make a full recovery.”
The incident is being investigated by police and officers have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
