Fancy living for three weeks on Gareth Wyn Jones's farm?
The search is on to find three families who would live on Gareth Wyn Jones ’s farm and take on the challenge of working on a hill farm for a new BBC series.
The BBC One Wales and BBC Two series to be shown next spring, will test three families who think they’ve got what it takes to be full-time farmers.
It will be filmed for three weeks on Gareth’s farm in Llanfairfechan this August.
The families will live side-by-side in a purpose-built yurt camp. working together on some tasks and competing against each other as they try to convince a panel of expert judges they can handle the good life.
The series will be presented by Kate Humble and Gareth Wyn Jones.
Gareth has farming in his blood. His family have farmed in the Carneddau mountains for over 350 years. He will guide the families through each of the challenges but warns he’s as a tough taskmaster who won’t go easy on his new apprentices.
The 50-year-old said: “I think I’ve got the best job in the world but that’s not to say it’s always easy. I’m really looking forward to meeting the families, seeing how they rise to the challenge of farming life and putting them through their paces of course.”
Every week Kate and Gareth will be joined by a guest judge – an experienced farmer, a food producer or a top chef.
Together they’ll assess and judge each of the families on how well they perform in each task.
While no previous experience is necessary, applicants must be willing to try their hand at all manner of agricultural assignments as they find out just how tough farming can be.
It will be three weeks of early starts, late finishes, dirty jobs in all weathers and facing the reality of producing food as they kill, cook and eat their livestock.
