Four children and a woman rescued from Rhyl house blaze
Four children and a woman were rescued from a burning house in Rhyl.
Fire crews were called to a property on Sandringham Avenue just after 3.30am.
According to fire chiefs the flames started in a bedroom after a candle was left unattended.
Two crews from the town used four sets of breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets and a thermal imaging camera to quell the blaze.
Paramedics took the woman and children to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be serious.
A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called at shortly before 3.40am to reports of a fire at an address on Sandringham Avenue, Rhyl.
“We sent a crew in an emergency ambulance and a woman with non-life-threatening injuries and four children requiring a precautionary check-up were taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd.”
There was 50% fire and heat damage to the bedroom and 100% smoke damage.
A North Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: “We were called to a house fire on Sandringham Avenue in Rhyl at 3.33am today.
“We sent two pumps from Rhyl to the scene. The fire started in a bedroom and there was 50% fire and heat damage as well as 100% smoke damage to the room.
“Crews used four breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets and one thermal imaging camera.
“There were five casualties who were taken to hospital for precautionary check-ups.
“We believe the fire was caused by a candle that was left unattended.”
