Holders of a UK passport who are in Thailand when their passports expire will need to proceed to the British Embassy in Bangkok to have their passports renewed and wait for around ten (10) working days for the processing.
The British Embassy in Thailand is located along Wireless Road, Lumpini, Pathumwan in Bangkok, and accepts applications for the renewal of UK passports from 9:00 am to 11:00 am.
The processing of passport renewals is strictly on a first come-first served basis. This means that the applications are processed precisely in the order they are received.
New rates for the renewal of a UK passport are as follows:
For a 32-page passport, fee is Baht 7,221. On the other hand, for a 48-page passport, the fee is Baht 8,729. For a child’s passport, fee is Baht 4,611.
Procedure
Generally, the procedure is similar, whether for the renewal, replacement or for a first time application of a UK passport.
Applicants who are sixteen (16) years of age or over, must complete the C1 Form.
Embassy officials will not accept the application and may refuse it outright if it is not correctly completed by the applicant.
The applicant should write his initials on the small box provided in every page of the C1 application form. If applicant could not write, he must provide a letter from a responsible person to confirm the reason why applicant cannot write.
Applicant must bring the following requirements
– 2 recent 35mm x 45mm photos with light-coloured background. (white, light grey, or cream will do)
– Completed application form
– Consular fees
– Current passport
Upon submission of the completed C1 application form and the required documents, the corresponding passport fee must be paid by the applicant.
The applicant may either renew his passport in person or by post. If in person, he must bring the application form, the supporting requirements, as well as the fee at the Consular Section of the British Embassy in Bangkok.
If, however, the renewal is by post, the application must be accompanied by a Banker’s Draft equivalent to the amount of the application fee plus a Baht 200 administration fee, or a money or postal order payable to “British Embassy.”
