Man admits trying to cut Costcutter shopkeeper's throat
A man has admitted trying to murder a shop keeper during a robbery in Queensferry .
Matthew Liam Whelan had admitted wounding with intent Imtiaz Ul Hag, whose neck was cut during the raid on his store in Costcutter store in Chester Road East on December 8 .
Today at Mold Crown Court, he admitted trying to murder the 58-year-old shopkeeper, having also previously admitted robbery.
Whelan, 29, of Willow Park in Gladstone Way in Mancot, was remanded in custody by Judge Rhys Rowlands until co-accused Leslie Peter Baines is dealt with.
Baines, 47, of Kings Road in Connah’s Quay, denies the robbery charge and is due to go on trial next month.
