The temple gets its name from philosopher Shankaracharya who visited Kashmir about 10 centuries ago.
Moving towards the plains, the next destination is Delhi, the capital of India. The city has seen the transition from the ancient grandeur to the heights of cosmopolitan culture. The city is recognized for the majestic monuments that are testimony to its glorious past. Various monuments, forts and parks found around the city are representations of the dynasties that have ruled over it. The city was painted in pink in 1853 to welcome the Prince of Wales. And so the royal city came to be recognized as pink city. The old city fractions are still a cheery pink hue. The top tourist stops of this city are Jantar Mantar, Hawa Mahal, Man Sagar Lake, Amber Palace and the Birla Planetarium.
