North Wales man arrested over huge Wirral gas explosion

A 62-year-old man from North Wales has been arrested as part of an investigation into a huge gas explosion on the Wirral.

The unnamed man was held by Merseyside Police probing the blast which completely destroyed a dance school in the New Ferry area earlier this year.

He was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to commit arson with intent and being reckless as to whether life was endangered.

He was also arrested on suspicion of an offence under the Fraud Act 2006

A second man, 55, from Wirral, was arrested on the same charges.

Huge Wirral explosion which injured dozens heard more than 13 miles away in North Wales

The explosion, which happened late on Saturday March 25, ripped through a dance school building close to the historic Port Sunlight village, completely destroying the building and damaging nearby properties.

Several people were injured in the blast, which could be heard from North Wales.
