Revellers go full steam ahead at Rail Ale festival on the Welsh Highland Railway
Railway enthusiasts, beer fans and music lovers were able to combine their interest this weekend during one of the most popular events in the calendar.
The 13th Rail-Ale festival on the Welsh Highland Railway featured more than 100 real ales and a wide selection of ciders most of which are brewed in Wales. There was even a Welsh-brewed lager for drinkers to taste.
The greatest selection of ales was in the Goods Shed at the railway’s station at Dinas, near Caernarfon which was be transformed into a bar and music venue.
More beers were available at the Snowdonia Parc pub in Waunfawr.
Claire Britton of the Welsh Highland Railway said: “The event has grown from something small into something that is now very large and popular.
“The number of ales on offer has grown and there are over 100 this year with many brewed in micro breweries not far from here.”
On Friday evening the popular Band Pres Llareggyb toped the bill after storming performances from Amser and folk band Patrobas.
The line up on Saturday featured the Tenovus Choir, Dylan a Neil, Y Cyffro and the evening was topped off by perennial rail-ale favourites Y Moniars,
Additional trains ran between Dinas, Waunfawr and Caernarfon.
