One of the main things that causes weight gain among many people is consuming a lot of calories from alcohol and mixed drinks. While many people have a favorite alcoholic cocktail, or a couple of favorite mixed drinks, these can be major gut busters and a few minor changes can often make a huge difference when it comes to losing weight, or at least minimizing the weight gain.
One of the most obvious steps that anyone can take is to switch out any mixed drinks mixed with coke and use diet coke instead. While this can take a little getting used to at first, diet soft drinks are becoming better and better and copying the flavor of the non-diet version, and this can save a ton of calories and sugar with each drink.
The next step is to avoid all frozen mixed drinks. Pretty much any frozen alcoholic mix you can have will be absolutely loaded with calories and sugar. In fact, some have been known to have upwards of 1,000 calories and enough sugar for days – way too much to get in one drink. If you have three or four, the entire week is in the toilet unless you end up running a marathon.
Another step to find lower calorie mixed drinks is to avoid juice. Juice can have a lot of calories, and getting some Crystal Lite or equivalent flavored water or Kool-Aid like substance can end up cutting out a few hundred calories with every outing.
