Super-vet plan for Mochdre office development
The former headquarters of a double glazing firm could be transformed into a large veterinary practice – creating extra jobs in the area.
The prominent site in Mochdre, which was once home to John Williams Windows, has been empty for several years and is now managed by Sitequest.
But now plans have gone in to transform the building into the HQ for Holmes and Murphy veterinary practice.
Under the proposals lodged with Conwy council the project would include consultation rooms, a theatre for surgery and a hydrotherapy unit for animals in recovery.

There would also be office space to support the expansion of the company that currently has a practice Llandudno, which would remain.
The proposal would create 11 new jobs with the company and boost the enterprise park.
Agent Cadnant Planning submitted the scheme to change the use of the site on behalf of Holmes and Murphy.
A statement said: “Since establishing in December 2012 the company has gone from strength to strength and now require a company headquarters together with another smaller veterinary practice to serve the area of Mochdre and Colwyn Bay.
“The headquarters and new veterinary practice would be in addition to their existing practice at Llandudno.”
The site is currently only able to be used as office space.
Cadnant said: “It is considered that unsuccessful attempts to market the property for employment use over a number of years clearly demonstrates that there is no demand for this type of office accommodation.”
They added: “The scheme will provide 11 new jobs on the site.
“This is significant compared to other alternative appropriate uses such as storage. Therefore, the proposal does generate a significant level of employment.
“The use of the site will provide an active frontage for the enterprise park which should encourage business to the whole site.”
