Teenagers charged with Rhyl murder to go on trial in October
Two teenage boys accused of killing a shopkeeper in Rhyl are expected to go on trial in October.
The two youths, one aged 15 and one 16, appeared in Mold Crown Court this afternoon.
They have been charged with stabbing Amarjeet Singh-Bhakar to death on Sunday morning.
They cannot be named because of their age but both are local to the Rhyl area.
The eldest, also charged with assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, appeared in court via a live link from custody, while the other appeared in the dock.
The trial, said prosecuting barrister Matthew Curtis, could involve a total of seven defendants and could last five or six weeks.
The youths were represented by defence barrister Simon Killeen.
Amarjeet Singh-Bhakar was stabbed during an incident at Prince Edward Avenue in Rhyl.
He was taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd but later died.
Five men, including a youth from the Greater Manchester area, have been charged with violent disorder in relation to the incident.
The murder case against the teenagers was adjourned for mention to June 7.
As the 15-year-old was led down to the cells, he gave a thumbs up to those watching the proceedings in the public gallery.
