Two North Wales police officers to stand trial accused of perverting the course of justice

Two North Wales police officers will stand trial later this year accused of trying to pervert the course of justice.

PCs James Peter Burns of Waunfawr, Caernarfon and Robin Humphreys, whose address was given in court as the police headquarters building at Colwyn Bay, both deny the charges.

Burns also faces two charges of assault causing actual bodily harm and another of common assault on Michael Stanley in Penrhyndeudraeth on April 10 last year.

The 55-year-old denied all the charges when he appeared before a judge at Caernarfon Crown Court and the matter was adjourned for trial.

Judge Huw Rees was told Humphreys, 26, had denied the charge he faces at an earlier hearing.

The trial, expected to last up to three days, will be at Caernarfon in August.

The charges arise from the alleged assault at Penrhyndeudraeth.

Both officers have been granted unconditional bail.
